Help Ooze navigate through various corridors and laboratories, using its gravity-reversing powers to overcome obstacles and avoid the robotic guards in an attempt to escape from this dangerous subterranean complex.

Collect keys and insert them in the computer terminal to disable the force-field and gain access to further areas.

Can you escape?

This is a port of the Spectrum version to Commodore 64. It features many improvements such as:

  • Vastly improved graphics, sprites and sprite overlays
  • Tons of new animations
  • New screens (including a secret room)
  • Improved screens and game-play
  • A minimap

The Amiga version adds these further enhancements:

  • Improved graphics, sprites, animations and sound effects
  • A much bigger map (almost double the size)
  • Two more keys to collect
  • New enemies and hazards
  • The minimap tracks the visited rooms

Note: Some older versions of WinUAE (such as 4.9.x) seem to emulate sprite-background collision detection incorrectly. If you experience any issues with picking up items please upgrade your emulator.

The game is compatible with both PAL (recommended) and NTSC machines. Press SPACE (C64) or S (Amiga) during the game to switch between music and sound effects.

I wrote a review for Digital Talk and postet it in my blog too (in german):

https://tilde.town/~mischk/blog/ooze-the-escape.html

Thanks, I'm glad you liked the game.

Why "dreizehn Räume"? It should be "dreiunddreißig Räume".

oh no, you are right! 😲 Ill correct it. Thank you!

This game is ‘oozing’ fun! A great combo of puzzle platformer and rouge-like with Prince of Persia and Tomb Raider vibes. A good amount of difficult, not too much to put you off and plenty of depth.  Thanks for supporting the Amiga. Don’t be a numpty, buy it now!

Cool game, real fun. Challenging but not too hard. Finished the game today.

I am sure that you can do this game for Atari 8 bits too. Count with me to publish your version. You can write me to : atariforever2020@gmail.com BTW, this is the esxclusive atari 8 bits channel in youtube. Best wishes !

Please provide an Amiga version in an LhA - the standard archiving format for AmigaOS. Also, please consider uploading Ooze to Aminet. Thank you for listening.

Sure. Let me read up on how to do this.

Thanks!

Very nice conversion of the ZX Spectrum original. Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 03:41:04. Automatic subtitles should be available soon (switch on, if necessary). Subscription to our YouTube or Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

It looks very good. Will there be an Amiga Version of Ooze?

As promised, here is my longplay (incl. backtracking to the secret room).

Great! You've become really good at it.

I'll put the video in the queue of the longplays to be added to Lemon64.

Very cool game. The main character is similar to STEG THE SLUG from 1992. As the editor of K&A PLUS https://ka-plus.pl/en/

I would like to chat with you about this game. Feel free to email me.

Great release once again. Congrats and thanks  (also to the creator of the Spectrum original)

wow, and all in a single 80 block prg! controls are good, graphics are beautiful and the music is banging (6581 sounds best on the tune). wish there was some sound fx as well.

a small issue i noticed is that when you land a fall from a medium height and immediately press the button to switch gravity, it doesn't always register (vice 3.7 using keyboard).

Thanks for the feedback. There is a special timer in the game to prevent unwanted double-flips in narrow areas. I wonder if that's behind what you experienced.

There are sound effects in the game. Press SPACE to switch between music and sound effects.

yes, that's possibly it. i experience it occasionally.

thanks for telling me about the option to toggle music/sfx. in my opinion it would be nice to have a separate screen with instructions rather than having this in the scrolltext. but i can only blame myself for not reading it.

Awesome port ! Congrats Haplo.

Nice design and graphics. Atmospheric music. The game is rock hard. I expect that is how it should be. This is a very promising preview and I will be looking forward to the final release. :)

Impressive preview I must say! Looks fantastic and plays really well (collision detection could be somewhat improved). I am really looking forward to see more of this!! Awesome work

Thanks. Yes, the collision detection will be improved in the final release.

Nice game!

Excellent! I loved the game on Spectrum.

Fantastic! I will definitely create a longplay of the final version.

Awesome preview ! Congrats and cheers in advance Haplo.

Thank you!

Ooh nice! Will download and play this weekend!
