IntroBase64 V04
Welcome to IntroBase64!
What is an intro?
An intro, also known as cracktro or crack intro is a little piece of software that was added
to a cracked program. The intro starts before the cracked program is started, to inform the
user who cracked the program. Crackers often used intros to greet fellow crackers, mainly by
using horizontal scroll texts.
Initially intros were just some static text that displayed this information, but later intros
became more and more complex, using raster bars, colorful animated logos and background music.
What is IntroBase64?
Last years the team at http://intros.c64.org has started collecting C64 intros by ripping them
from the cracked programs and make them available at their website.
This GameBase collection makes offline browsing and starting intros in an emulator easy and
comfortable.
All intros up to september 2019 (10500 intros) are included in this GameBase collection. The
GameBase front-end can be used to browse the list of intros or for searching a specific intro.
Every intro has a screenshot attached. Clicking the “Play intro” button starts the intro in
your favourite emulator.
Lots of emulators are supported. The emulators WinVICE, CCS64 and Hoxs64 are included in this
package.
Every intro has a link to the online entry at https://intros.c64.org.
