Sprite Castle 051: THEC64 Maxi

On this episode of Sprite Castle I take a look at the newly released THEC64 Maxi, the full-size Commodore computer from Retro Games Limited. I talk about the settings, the built-in games, and playing downloaded games. I also talk about what a pain in the butt it was to acquire one in North America, and compare it to everything from a Raspberry Pi to an FPGA-based MiST and an Ultimate 64 to help people decide if this product makes sense for them.

    Rob,
Great episode. I don’t have any experience with a Commodore so I went with the C64. I have a pi, but wanted the experience of the C64 keyboard. I had no problem hooking it up to an older 19” LCD 4:3. I used an hdmi to vga adapter that had a separate audio out that I can run to my pc speakers. I’m hoping to have some time over Christmas to update the firmware, try out the games, and install a few from your Sprite Castle list. Thanks again and have a Happy Holiday.
